A home for important access

Fewer Loose Logins.
Clearer Ownership.

Make it easier to use strong, distinct credentials without passing them around in messages or spreadsheets.

Keep Personal Items Personal

Store each person’s own logins and secure notes in their personal vault.

Share Through Collections

Use an organisation and collections to grant access to the credentials a role needs.

Use Familiar Clients

Point compatible Bitwarden browser, desktop and mobile clients at your self-hosted Vaultwarden URL.

A practical team handoff

Onboard Without Sending a Password.

For a new operations teammate, the access path can be deliberate from the first login.

01

Invite the Person

Create the account through the registration policy you choose and confirm their email flow.

02

Assign a Collection

Give their role access to the shared items it needs, not every item in the vault.

03

Connect Their Clients

Set the self-hosted URL in the browser extension and any other approved device.

04

Review and Revoke

Change collection access when a role changes or a teammate leaves.

Where a vault helps

Keep the Next Login Close.

Organise credentials by the work they support, then give people a clear route to them.

Small Teams

Move shared service logins out of chat threads and into role-based collections.

Distributed Work

Use the same self-hosted vault address across the clients your people already work with.

Access Changes

Review who can reach a collection when teams, suppliers or responsibilities change.

Client Operations

Separate credentials for different projects so an assigned team sees the right set.

Make the vault dependable

Hosting Starts It. Good Habits Keep It Ready.

These decisions protect access and make recovery possible when a device or server fails.

ACCESS

Use HTTPS and Tight Sign-ups

The web vault needs HTTPS. Choose who can register, protect any admin interface and enable two-step login for accounts that need it.

DATA

Back Up the Whole Vault

Plan for the database, attachments and configuration. Keep a protected copy away from the running instance and test a restore.

CHANGE

Update With a Recovery Path

Review Vaultwarden and client compatibility before upgrades. Keep a usable backup and test sign-in, sync and sharing afterward.

From plan to first saved login

Set Up the Vault for Your Team.

Start with one small collection and verify it on the devices people will actually use.

  1. 01

    Choose a Plan and Address

Review the current Nigeria plan details. Set a clear HTTPS address for the vault and confirm the deployed service.

  2. 02

    Configure Accounts

Decide whether sign-ups are open or invite-led. Protect the admin path and create the initial users.

  3. 03

    Import a Small Batch

Move a few logins first. Check item fields and sharing permissions before importing the rest.

  4. 04

    Test Daily Use and Recovery

Connect a browser and phone, confirm sync, verify backups and rehearse an account or device change.

Vaultwarden hosting FAQs

Answers Before You Move a Login.

From compatible clients to shared access, backups and recovery.

What is Vaultwarden hosting?

Our Vaultwarden hosting gives your passwords and shared credentials a dedicated home. Connect compatible clients to your workspace address, organise saved items and give selected people access to shared collections.

Use our plan listing for the current resources and service scope. The project overview describes Vaultwarden’s application capabilities.

Is this the same as Bitwarden Cloud?

No. Vaultwarden is an independent community project that implements the Bitwarden client API. It is separate from Bitwarden’s hosted service, subscriptions and support.

Compatible Bitwarden clients can connect to it, but server and client versions need to work together. Test sign-in, sync and sharing with the clients your team uses.

Which Truehost plan should I choose?

Plan around the number of users, saved items and especially file attachments.

  • Estimate the data you will import and expected growth.
  • Compare current plan resources and billing terms.
  • Confirm backup, update and support responsibilities for the selected plan.

Start with a small team trial before moving every important login.

Is this a general-purpose VPS?

This offer is prepared for a Vaultwarden workspace. For an environment where you install and administer unrelated server applications, choose our VPS hosting.

How do I connect a browser extension or phone?
  1. Open the client’s self-hosted server setting before signing in.
  2. Enter your workspace’s HTTPS address and save it.
  3. Sign in, then check that a test item appears on another connected device.

Use the client instructions for the location of that setting. Your Vaultwarden account belongs to that server address.

Can each person have a personal vault and shared items?

Yes. Use a personal vault for individual items and organisation collections for shared work. Adding someone to your team should not mean giving them every saved login.

  • Group shared items by team or responsibility.
  • Assign access to the people who need those items.
  • Test with an ordinary member account before rollout.

When someone leaves, remove their access and rotate credentials they could have copied or retained.

Can I disable public registration?

You can control new registrations. Decide how approved people will join, then test the invitation and account-creation process before closing public sign-ups.

Keep the administrative interface protected separately from user registration. Follow the registration guide for configuration details.

Can we use two-step login?

Vaultwarden supports multiple two-step login methods. Choose a method supported by your current server and clients, and keep its recovery information somewhere you can reach if the main device is unavailable.

Test recovery before the team relies on it. A two-factor recovery code is not a replacement for a forgotten master password.

How should we import existing passwords?
  1. Keep a recoverable copy of the original vault.
  2. Import a small sample using a supported format.
  3. Check usernames, website addresses, notes and shared-item ownership.
  4. Move the remaining items once the sample is correct.

Attachments may need separate handling. Unencrypted exports expose their contents, so protect them during migration and remove temporary copies after verification.

Why does the vault need HTTPS?

The web vault needs HTTPS for the browser cryptography features it uses. Set the final workspace address and a valid certificate before inviting users.

Check both browser access and client connections at that address. See the project’s usage notes.

What needs to be in a recoverable backup?

A recoverable backup includes the database and attachments, with the configuration needed to recreate the service. External database setups need an appropriate database backup as well as the relevant files.

  • Keep a protected copy away from the running instance.
  • Record retention and who can access backup data.
  • Test a restore and check saved items and attachments.

Use the backup guide to define the scope. A synchronised client is not a substitute for this process.

What if someone forgets their master password?

Do not assume hosting support can recover it. A server backup preserves encrypted data; it does not reveal the master password or automatically unlock the vault.

Recovery options depend on features configured beforehand, such as eligible organisation recovery or emergency access. Establish and test a recovery process before storing essential credentials. Without a usable recovery path, the encrypted contents may be inaccessible.

Who handles updates and monitoring?

Check our selected plan for the scope of ongoing maintenance. Assign an owner for user access, client compatibility and recovery even when server tasks are managed for you.

Before a significant update, keep a usable backup. Afterwards, test sign-in, a saved login, sync and a shared collection with the clients your team actually uses.
