You need your domain name, an unlocked domain and its Auth/EPP code. Get these ready in your current registrar account before placing the transfer order.

1. Open the domain’s settings and turn off its transfer lock, if one is enabled.
2. Request the Auth/EPP code from your registrar.
3. Confirm you can receive messages at the domain’s contact email address.
4. Enter the full domain name in our transfer form and provide the code at checkout.

A policy lock is different from an account setting: if one applies, your registrar must tell you when the domain becomes eligible.

No. Transferring your domain moves its registration to Truehost; it does not copy your website or email inboxes. You can keep your website with its current host while we manage your domain.

• Keep your existing hosting and email subscriptions active.
• Preserve the nameservers and DNS records that connect your website and mail.
• If your old registrar supplies DNS, arrange continued DNS service or copy the records to a replacement provider before that service ends.

Your transfer fee is the current price for your domain extension. Our current transfer prices for popular extensions:

A zero transfer price means there is no registrar-transfer fee for that extension. Renewals are charged separately at the listed renewal price; a zero-cost transfer does not mean free renewals.

For ICANN-governed generic domains, registration or a previous registrar transfer can prevent another transfer for 60 days. Changing the registrant’s name, organisation or email can also trigger a 60-day lock.

• Check the registration date and last transfer date in your registrar account.
• Ask your registrar to identify the lock and its release date.
• If you plan to transfer, check the effect of changing ownership details before making those changes.

Turning off the normal “Domain Lock” setting does not remove a policy lock. These ICANN rules are not a blanket rule for country-code domains such as .ng.

It is the authorisation key that allows your domain to move between registrars. Your current registrar issues it; Truehost uses it to request the transfer.

1. Look for “Auth code”, “EPP code”, “Transfer code” or “Secret Key” in your domain settings.
2. If it is not available there, request it from your registrar’s support team.
3. Copy it exactly into the transfer checkout, including capital letters and symbols.

Keep the code private. If checkout rejects it, request a fresh code and confirm that the domain is unlocked.

Allow 5–7 days for a .ng transfer and up to 5 days for .com, .net or .org once the request is accepted. A locked domain, an incorrect code or an outstanding approval can delay the request.

• Provide the correct code and complete the order.
• Act on any approval message from your current registrar.
• Check the transfer status in your client account and keep your current services running until it completes.

If the transfer is rejected or remains pending beyond that window, contact our support team with the domain name and order details so we can check the request.

Yes. We support transfers of both .ng and .com.ng domains. Keep your existing name and move its registration to your Truehost account.

1. Request the domain’s EPP code from your current registrar.
2. Unlock it if your registrar has applied a transfer lock.
3. Enter the complete name, such as yourbusiness.com.ng, in our transfer form.
4. Complete the order and any required approval.

The current fee is ₦0.00 for .com.ng and ₦0.00 for .ng.

Expiry alone does not automatically prevent a transfer of an ICANN-governed generic domain. The domain must still be eligible, and you need its authorisation code. A domain in redemption must be restored through its current registrar before it can transfer.

• Check whether it is expired, in redemption or pending deletion.
• Ask your current registrar for the code and confirm that it can release the domain.
• If it is in redemption, restore it first; starting a transfer does not recover it.

For .ng and other country-code domains, ask us to check the registry status before ordering. For a name that has not expired, start the move at least two weeks before expiry.

No, a registrar transfer does not require moving your website to a different host. Keep the nameservers that serve your existing website and email if that DNS service will remain active.

1. Save the current nameservers and a copy of your DNS records.
2. Confirm your current DNS provider will continue the service after the registrar transfer.
3. If you need replacement DNS, recreate the website, mail and verification records before switching.
4. After the move, test your website and send and receive a test email.
